Security Policy

Independence Ltd uses advanced techniques to ensure your purchases are totally secure. We use Internet standard encryption technology ("SSL" or "Secure Socket Layer" technology) to encode personal data that you send to us when placing an order through the Website.

To make sure that you are in a secure area of the Website before sending personal data to us, please look at the bottom right of your website browser and check that it displays an image of a closed padlock or an unbroken key

However, please note that whilst we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard the personal data that you provide to us, no transmission over the Internet can ever be guaranteed 100% secure. Consequently, please note that we cannot guarantee the security of any personal data which has to be transferred to us over the internet.

We recommend you take steps to safeguard yourself. If you are using a computer or terminal in a public location, we recommend that you always log out and close the website browser when you complete an online session for your security. In addition we recommend that you take the following security measures to enhance your online safety:

• Keep your account passwords private. Remember, anybody who knows your password may access your account.

• When creating a password, use at least 8 characters. A combination of letters and numbers is best. Do not use dictionary words, your name, email address, or other personal data that can be easily obtained. We also recommend that you frequently change your password. You can do this by going to ‘My Account’ and clicking ‘Change password’ under the ‘Account Information’ tab.

• Avoid using the same password for multiple online accounts.

Online security to protect your payment/financial details

Card transactions are handled by SagePay, which is fully Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant for your security and peace of mind.

To give you even more confidence in shopping online with Independence Ltd, we have introduced Verified by Visa and Mastercard® SecureCode™. These services enhance your existing card account against unauthorised use when you shop with us.

To use this service, you must first register with the bank or other organisation that issued your card.

PLEASE NOTE: This scheme is completely separate from Independence Ltd. Your Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode™ password is not your Independence Ltd account password

Once you have registered and created your own private password with your card issuer, you will be automatically prompted at checkout to provide this password each time you make a purchase.

For total security, Independence does not have access to your Verified by Visa and Mastercard® SecureCode™.To find out more, click on the links below

You may also opt to pay via PayPal to provide an alternative way to purchase without sharing your card details with us.

Independence also has a responsibility to actively pursue security. Currently, we do that on both a code and hardware level.

Spoof/false emails

We will never ask you to confirm any account or credit card details via email. If you receive an email claiming to be from us asking you to do so, please ignore it. Do not respond to it, and DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS it may contain. Please forward it to us at enquiries@independence.ltd.uk so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
